The only reason, and I mean the ONLY reason, why we see an exact replica of Data’s butt-cheeks here is because otherwise we’d see an exact replica of Data’s fully-functional android genitals.

And the thing with Tasha Yar is not the only reference we have to Data’s complete anatomy, because we also get to learn that Data needed a modesty routine or he’d just walk around the colony with everything on display.

They don’t seem to have his hands on display. His feet are, but no hands. They could have easily hid the ass and displayed the hands.

The funny thing is, this is almost exactly as awkward for Data and his coworkers Riker and Geordi as it is for Brent Spiner and his coworkers Jonathan Frakes and LeVar Burton. Data being an android is equaled out by Spiner being by all accounts a really crazy guy who’s down for whatever, and the other two being more-enlightened 24th-century humans is equaled out by Frakes and Burton being actors.

I often see clips from Spiner and Frakes podcast, Dropping Names, and one of the fun parts is seeing what characters they are, especially Brent. He’s definitely a bit eccentric, but somehow not as much as I was expecting.

      Why would I be thankful?

I need to know if Data, and other Soong type androids, are designed with wrinkles, or public hair?If expansion and contraction is simulated when the ambient temperature changes? What is exactly meant by “fully functional”? Does it mean there within is contained two cybernetic orbs with some sort of function?

I can tell that because you used a contraction. (Unless this is one of those scenes where everyone forgot during production that you don’t use contractions and one slipped through.)
