Interestingly enough, I was one of the few that could do the counter trick but everyone else knew how to do the lighter trick. I still don’t know how to do it with a lighter
I used to be able to do it pretty well with a lighter, but honestly it is a lot more difficult than with a counter. I also once saw someone shoot the bottle cap off like a champagne cork (accidentally) while doing the lighter trick. Im sure that rarely happens, but it could have easily put an eye out
Someone never went to college. I learned how to open a bottle with nothing but the palm of my hand and a hard counter
Or a lighter, or any similarly sized object.
I’ve done it with a single (albeit full sized) sheet of newspaper.
I still feel like that should be enough to qualify for German citizenship, but there’s unsurprisingly a lot more paperwork involved.

You do run the risk of ending up with lots of glass shards in your beer that way. Or at least I do, maybe it’s a skill issue
I’ve never broken a bottle that way lol, but I’ve heard that it can happen if you use too much force

Don’t use your teeth to open bottles kids, stick with the hand and hard counter technique!
