Society is generally capable of working on more than one thing at a time. This law doesn’t take anything away from any efforts to fix the economy (if they exist)

Your post just shows how normalized alcohol and tobacco are. “Greece passes law to jail people for selling harmful drugs to children” would also be a correct headline.
Despite the blatant bait I’m going to take it: do you have any idea how much damage addiction to these substances costs the overall economy of a country? It’s a lot and the earlier people start the heavier the addiction is going to be.
