They aren’t the primary villains, but they’re sure as shit the bumbling secondary antagonists.

If there is anything I have learned in my life, it is that fascism can only be defeated through violence. You can’t talk to an ork and convince it that it is doing wrong, you can only chop off it’s head.

Not pictured: the ninety million elves, hobbits, dwarves, and men that felt that as long as a single life is lost in the process, all sides are identical and they can’t in good conscious support [issue] when [thing] is happening.

I like to think he represents the naive but genuine goodwill of the “blue no matter who” crowd that subscribe to the just world fallacy, believe the Democrats are “doing their best,” and that the system is still capable of self-repair despite those mechanisms having been dismantled decades ago by the capitalists and their captured government.

The I do believe in fairies the benevolence of free market forces neoliberal voter that needs to pretend if they just go to work and keep their head down everything will normalize. If Citizens United didn’t spell out that our current constitutional framework was dead and well into decomposition, you’re hopeless.

I think that’s a pretty fair assessment, although I wouldn’t consider Pippin (nor naive good faith Democrats) as antagonists.

I would also point out that while being a giant pain in the ass during the journey, Middle Earth falls without his actions.

Worse imo, the sliding decline in living standards that the neoliberals oversaw is the exact reason why fascism is on the rise. It’s as if Denethor created orcs, because it makes line go up.

      Why would democrats save you

It’s more accurate to say “Why would you expect the Democrats to save you when you’ve watched them legislate against your interests for four decades”? I mean, you just watched the Democrats field a candidate whose brain doesn’t work, that presided over four years of most Americans becoming much poorer, and the replacement candidate said she wouldn’t change a thing.

And if that isn’t enough, go check out the value of the minimum wage Pre-Reagan versus now.

But, more simply, Democrats should be doing everything possible to stop this because it’s their goddamn job whether they like the voters or not.

Crazy how Putin, musk and co. Have brainwashed you with subtle propaganda for so long that you guys openly shit on the democrats while allowing fascists to run rampant for decades. I’m Canadian and you think I haven’t held my nose and voted Liberal just to prevent the Conservatives from taking power? We do it all the time. It’s not our preferred party but we know we don’t have a real alternative at yet.

I have voted Dem my entire adult life. They lost to the worst candidate in history. I’d rather vote for the Working Families Party–I’d vote for a Bernie party if I could. Fuck corpo money Dems.

          You’re so right.

The tender feelings of do-nothing Democrats should be my focus here. I 100% should not expect the opposition party to do anything other than give speeches and just, you know, pretend to oppose things.

Dude, come on, do you really think the Dems are doing just fine and only propaganda form another country could make us dislike them?

I’ve been shit talking Dems my whole life thanks to being raised in a leftist household, didn’t need Putin or Musk at all, many of us don’t. You can shit talk them very easily using normal eyeballs and 3 brain cells

that sounds a lot like nuance.

No it doesn’t. It sounds like the same, empty bumper sticker level nonsense that a dozen people reply with on every single social media post that rightfully criticizes the Democratic Party.

    Finally! Someone taking on those damned . . . *checks notes* . . . neo- . . liberals

Just like before the election, too. That’s just quality backbiting there. It’s no wonder that . . . whatever this is, is so frightfully popular.

    More measles anyone?

Whether we got here in 2020, 2024, or 2028, this is where the neoliberal/fascist capitalist jihad was heading.

They both serve the same masters and play good cop bad cop while exploiting us to death for their wealthy bribers.

And I vote blue out of slight harm reduction, not hope, because being murdered in swaths for shareholder private profits is better with affirmation ribbons than scapegoats, but we’re sinking under either and have been for half a century.

There’s a reason Democrat leadership spent the month before Trump took power safeguarding power from AOC. Republicans are their esteemed opposition, they keep the bipartisan bribe fountain running. If the DNC were taken over by an actual left trying to reign in the murderous capital markets, that fountain would stop. The Neoliberals and the DNC would treat an AOC insurgency with the urgency we wish they’d treat Trump.

If i have lung cancer in my left lung and my oncology team is deciding between removing the right lung or giving me saline injections, picking the saline injections isn’t “harm reduction”. It’s allowing the cancer to grow and spread.
