“There was this devastating, life changing event that happened DECADES ago and they STILL talk about it.”
“What the hell is Manhwa?”
Edit: My guess is the last thing he can’t remember the name of is “Train to Busan”.
HI, South Korean here.
No.
Bye.
/thread
Pretty sure Parasite was ragging on South Korean culture much harder than the DPRK.
“I wonder why having artillery pointed at their capital for the past 70 years has made them think about the aggressively posturing militaristic totalitarian state to their north which claims to be their lawful government?”
Breaking: local man thinks entire country has produced at most 4 movies in its entire existence.
lmfao, this is so brainrotted i love it.
edit: if you don’t mind OP, can i crosspost this to !tankiejerk@lemmy.world? It’d fit right into the community, lmao
Yes, of course! I wasn’t even sure if this fit meanwhile on grad but I knew it had to go somewhere so thanks for letting me know where to also put stuff like this in future 😊
Thanks :D you’re welcome anytime over there!
I definitely don’t recall the DPRK being mentioned at all in Squid Game season 1.
The pickpocket girl from season 1 is from the DPRK. Thats about it I think.
Okay. I remember that plot point, vaguely, but I don’t recall it being about the DPRK, specifically. Maybe I just missed it.
Tap for spoiler
Her entire story arc is about getting money from the games to try and locate and rescue her mother or father I can’t remember which after they got caught trying to escape NK
I don’t think this gigabrain is reading the text beyond “evil fascist state = dprk = western propaganda”
This man has not seen the “SSS-class suicide player from another world after the fall meets the villaness after returning as the reincarnated max-level hero to save the world from the Tower” manhwa catalog yet
To be fair, he’s pretty sure they have made 5 things (but he can’t recall the name of one of them)
chapo and citationS needed lol
Hah. Hey, at least that’s a good benchmark for how the rest of us felt about US media post-9/11.
To be fair, terrorists are basically just modern Nazis and commies. Gotta pick some enemy to caricaturize.
left fascism is a true issue. authority knows no bounds, politcial included
Ah, yes, left far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology and movement, characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation or race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy, opposed to anarchism, democracy, pluralism, egalitarianism, liberalism, socialism, and Marxism.
Why does everything have to be tied to fascism? Cant there just be a bad ideology independent of fascism?
I call it authoritarianism, which covers a variety of ideologies.
Anything north of that top horizontal line is off limits, and I’m personally somewhere in the vast sea of libertarianism, occasionally nudging up into liberalism.
i think human political philosophy is a little more complex than a 2 dimensional set of axis.
but i agree, authoritarianism is probably the best word.
Agreed, but the two axis model is a lot more informative and useful than the one axis model most people use.
People only talk about horshoe theory because they can’t comprehend the auth/lib axis.
cause i dont wanna have to write a whole paragraph when i can just type one word?
