Fuck, what is the German Chancellor going to say in this position when asked? “I have no faith in the leader of the free world”? Public statements from politicians are constructed with care - words are as deadly as bullets, and masks are as real as faces. It may be that he hasn’t ‘seen any moments’ from Biden, I mean hell, the man clearly has good days and bad days still, but even if the German Chancellor did see anything, why would he, at a time when NATO unity is more important than ever and a Russian asset is the only other current competitor, admit that to a journalist?
“I’m not someone that is able to say how will be the outcome of American elections,” Scholz responded. “But I think it would be a big mistake to underestimate the president. He is successful in doing the necessary things, for instance, in organizing the NATO alliance.”
He’s talking about Biden’s electability using his work in NATO as an example. There’s dozens of examples of domestic things that Biden’s successfully done in his first term that prove he was an effective president.
That has nothing to do with him being able to do the job for another 4 years, or his ability to convince the electorate that he’s up for the job.

He’s supposed to say “it’s not my place to comment on the American election process, it’s my responsibility to work with whomever wins”
Under ordinary circumstances, maybe. But with Trump running on an anti-NATO platform, it would be pretty bad optics to say that.

This comment would be a lot cooler if it wasn’t this giant paragraph that it doesn’t need to be.
Try hitting the ENTER key sometime my friend.
Dawg,

It’s 3 sentences. Perfectly reasonable length for a paragraph.
