I tried several Game Boy “# in 1” carts in the AP and none of them worked. Does anybody know what the AP is missing in order to be compatible with them?

Have you contacted Analogue support? As far as I’m aware, if it runs on original gameboy hardware, it should be able to run on the Pocket.
Many Pocket owners, myself included, use Everdrives which work flawlessly.
Have you tried any multi cart? I’m not talking about everdrives, I have one and works without issues.
I don’t own any multi carts, so I haven’t tested those on my unit.
