A “not so fun” fact that 2 of the last 3 moderate risk outlook days were for events that went on to be classified as derecho events.
classified as derecho events.
We had one of those in Tulsa a month or 2 ago and the winds hit 117 mph. It was crazy. It blew over my fence and we all lost power citywide for about 6 days. I lost about $400 worth of food, my fence fell over, my daughter’s trampoline was flung all the way across the yard and bent in half, and trees were blown over literally everywhere in the city, it was wild. We are used to bad weather here but that storm was absolutely fucking nuts.
Hyped for an evening of my lights flickering, it’s like a free disco at home
Was pretty mild out near Tysons Corner. A bit of raining around 6pm.
Same out near Alexandria.
Supposedly Caroline County got ~4in hail in parts and somewhere near Westminster, MD had multiple power poles dropped.
Glad we didn’t get much I guess.
Yeah Alexandria was sheltered from the worst; was expecting to lose power and it was barely a storm by the time it rolled in!
Having grown up in the Midwest, I keep seeing these tornado warnings and prepping to head to the basement. My girlfriend who’s actually survived a Midwest tornado was laughing at me saying “oh honey, at worst it’s an F1, which is just more strong wind gusts.”
Which ok, fair, these aren’t as bad as tornado alley. But still, stay safe everyone!
Time to plug my weather radio in I guess…
