In the days of player empowerment and constant moving around teams, it feels like there are more players than ever that are guarantees for the Hall… but possibly no teams that want to hang their number in the rafters. Who do you reckon falls into this category?
Bro, how regardless of what the GSW owner has said, how can a thunder fan not think KDs jersey would get retired by the thunder?
I mean it’s pretty obviously the way he left lol
He’s the greatest player in Thunder history
He is also the biggest traitor in thunder history.
Kd is a legendary player but OKC does not owe him
I mean sure, whatever. It’s still pretty clear why Thunder fans don’t want his jersey retired. I’m not even saying I agree with that sentiment, but this shouldn’t come as some shocking revelation lol
I mean if vc has a chance of not having his jersey retired with the raptors considering how he left, it’s entirely possible that kd won’t get his number retired with the thunder with how he not only left but to the team that beat them in the conference finals the same year
That’s like comparing apples to oranges, there’s a significant difference between Kevin Durant and Vince Carter as players and there’s also a significant difference between the ways they left their franchises. Vince Carter’s greatest accomplishment as a Raptor was getting outplayed by Allen Iverson in a 2nd round series, Kevin Durant led the Thunder to an NBA Finals and many WCF appearances, he made them relevant by himself and they have been irrelevant since he left.
VC was also in contract and demanded a trade while having led the Raptors to nothingness after 2001, beefing with the entire organization in the process, being accused of not trying and telling opponents the Raptors plays. On the other hand, KD simply left in FA, he was free to do whatever he wanted and he did it, he had no obligations to the Thunder after 9 years of excellence and he didn’t misbehave in any way while being part of the Thunder organization.
It’s terrible optics for the stadium too be booing during a retirement ceremony.
