In the days of player empowerment and constant moving around teams, it feels like there are more players than ever that are guarantees for the Hall… but possibly no teams that want to hang their number in the rafters. Who do you reckon falls into this category?

every franchise has a different attitude to jersey retirements… some won’t retire a player’s jersey but won’t let other players wear it ie Moses Malone #2 with Philly… Orlando won’t retire Penny Hardaway’s jersey because of how he left and they feel "Still, a player needs more longevity or loyalty with a team.”… Kevin Garnett’s feud with Minnesota owner Glen Taylor means his #21 jersey will stay unretired but not worn by anyone… wild!

There’s a lot? I mean, CP3, Kawhi, Melo, Kyrie, probably at least a few more. Those 4 are just guys that come to mind immediately without thinking too hard about it.

Al Horford? I don’t think Atlanta will, Boston probably won’t, Philly sure as hell won’t.

And yes he absolutely is a HOFer. His college championships and NBA career along with his longevity give him a great shot. A championship would seal it.

I would love to see predictions on current superstars that seem obvious but might change if they ask for a trade.

Like Embiid for example. He won the mvp and all, but if for some reason he asks out, would Sixers fans hate him or respect him enough?

    Kevin Durant maybe?

Especially with some of the shit he has said or done with previous organizations.

Warriors have said they intend to retire his jersey but who knows? Thunder probably should but his exit might leave a sour taste. If he wins a ring in Phoenix and retires on good terms, the Suns probably will.

I don’t see how Harden made enough of an impact versus longevity on any team to do it.

Maybe if Houston is dying to have a jersey presentation, 🤷🏼

And you think that him becoming a trade piece is worthy of his jersey to be put next to Yaos, Clyde & Hakeem? A team that didn’t feel like Mcgrady deserves it.

He did work in Houston, and he brought you to the conference finals twice I believe. But Idk, doesn’t seem like a mountain top

idk if you are just ignorant of houston rockets history or something but Harden literally was the face of the franchise his entire 8 year tenure in Houston. Tmac was a great player while he was on the Rockets but he isn’t even in the top 10 points all time for the franchise, while Harden is SECOND. Harden is a Rockets legend. Winning a championship is not the be all end for someone’s legend status with a team.

yao never made it past the first round and never won mvp or nba 1st team. Harden was a top 5 player in the league for 5 years with Houston and was a game away from a finals appearance if chris paul doesn’t go down. He won an mvp and broke a shit ton of records. Dude averaged 36 a game woth them. In what world dont they retire hardens number his career has him as low as 6 all time and as high as 3 as far as shooting guards go.
