I’d like to buy either an M440 or M340. I went to the dealer today and looked at a blacked out 2024 M340 special edition with tacora red interior. Car looks really sporty.

Talking to the sales guy, he’s like have you considered a 5 series - it may for your style a little better. I took it to mean you’re too old for the sporty 3 series.

I’m 38 years old, is that too old for an M340 or M440? I do need to look professional for work in front of clients, so I’m concerned they might think I’m an old guy in a young guys car. Thoughts appreciated!

Man, I am 41 and had a lowered M2 with M Performance Exhaust until last year :-)

There isn’t a thing like “too old”.

My wife’s boss is in his 70s and just got a M340. Age is but a number. If your heart wants a 340, then get a 340.

51 and just bought a M240i. Only car that I’ve thought about recently and decided I was maybe a bit too old for was a New Supra.

Please. I’m older than most people here, and female. I just bought a 2024 m440. BSM, w/darkest tint allowed. I am a professional. I wear a suit and heels every day. Bought my first 335 coupe when I was 39.

    I’m 41, my spouse is 48, our two cars are a 2020 M4cs (1 of 200 in Melbourne Red) and a 2024 GR Supra 45th Anniversary (1 of 450 in Mikan Blast).

Perhaps we too are too old for what we own.

I got my M340i just after I turned 39… It was my last year of my 30s car, so I do slightly get the thought process. I think it was the right time to get it because its pretty understated and grown up but still has a lot of playfulness. You’re fine. Its not a dodge hellcat or something, and even if it was drive what you want.

I am 75 and have both an X6 twin turbo diesel, my workhorse, and an E 46 M3 25 years old. What a pleasure to drive the M3. Mostly on German Autobahn at 200 kph + . Fabulous machine with manual gear shift and never a problem despite it’s 140,000 kms. Just ordered a new e340 to replace the Diesel X6 which is going to be prohibited in Brussels end 2024. BMW Uber alles… The only problem with 5 and 6 or 7 series is the width. In many underground public parking lots in Europe, you can’t open the doors. Our cars have grown to sizes and weights that are totally useless. It’s time to downsize and once again have decent SCx coefficients.

Considering everything you said I think it’s a fair question. They are similar cars and you can get the b58 in either. Do you want a more sporty driving experience or more focused on comfort? That’s the real question
