The tale as old as time. I have been using iPhones exclusively since the 3Gs. I have AirPods, an Apple Watch (that I’m selling as I don’t like the way it feels on my wrist), and an iPad. I currently have an iPhone 14+ and I love it. Works seamlessly and the battery life is wonderful. Even though I love this phone, I really really want to switch over to a Galaxy S23. I feel like I’m really constricted with iPhones now. I know it sounds stupid, but switching is hard as hell man. My wife uses an iPhones, 90% of my friends use iPhones, and my family does as well. I guess I’m just trying to get out of the herd mentality when it comes to iPhones. Nervous that I will get a phone I will regret getting. Rant over lol

I switched from OG iPhones, to Samsung for a few years back to Apple.

If you have a lot of Apple devices, don’t do it. I need iMessage on my laptop, airdrop etc…

If you only have an Apple Phone/Accessories, do it!

I’d love to go back to Samsung. The only reason I don’t is because the Apple ecosystem works too well for my business.

I have had multiple iPhones and Samsungs over the years. Been using Samsung phones for about 3-ish years now and last month, I decided to trade my S23 Ultra for an iPhone 15 Pro Max. I returned it after 4 days because the phone felt sluggish and slow to me. You won’t regret switching, trust me.

I would definitely wait for the s24 lineup to come out. They’re expected to be showcased January 17th so it’s not that far away. In the meantime, go to your carrier store or Best buy and play around with the Samsung phones just so you can get a feel and see up close the Android OS. You can also order a used s23 or s22 from Amazon and use it until the new s24 lineup comes out then return it. I ordered a cheap iPhone se 3rd Gen and used it for about a month before returning it. I wanted to see if Apple’s os was right for me before making the switch to the iPhone 15 pro max. I didn’t like the os, so I went with the pixel 8 pro since I already really liked the pixel’s OS.

There is always an android work around for ios exclusive stuff, but if it’s not built into ios, you’re fucked. The phone is for you, your family can figure it out, it’s not that hard. God forbid they show some flexibility to anything outside the ios bubble. There’s so much more to do in android, especially OneUI, and if you like having some choice in what your phone does, looks like, and making it completely your own, switch. I’ve always thought: If you want new, experimental, and interesting features, pick android. If you want 5 year old features optimized far beyond anything reasonable, pick ios. But you seem to be more the former than the latter.

I was formerly a Samsung owner, always had the latest Samsung flagship starting back when the S2 came out. Switched over to Apple when the iPhone 13 was released, not really because I wanted to, but to have the integration with everyone else in my family (other than my wife, who is the one holdout).

TBH, I liked the Samsung phones more. I have more weird crashes and quirks with my iPhones (currently on a 15 pro max) than I ever did with my Samsung phones. But if I switch back to Samsung, I miss out on the easy integration with everything my kids do, on the integration with tech-unsavvy family members. So I stick with the iPhone.

And, no, it isn’t an option to switch my kids. There’s a real thing in the US with kids being ostracized a bit online socially for not having an iPhone, and I’m not doing that to them.

Anyway – you will NOT regret the phone itself, it’s a bit of an upgrade really. But you may regret not being able to use iMessage features, FaceTime, easy note/reminder sharing, etc.

I switched. No problem. I still have my 13PM, but I never use it.

Left the Mac, too, after decades. No problem.

I’m happier where I am now.

I felt the same way. I don’t regret it. I don’t even miss imessages, which was weirdly my number one concern. My galaxy ultra is so cool, and I love the way you can personalize everything your way.

One really helpful thing while texting iPhone users. Samsung has a feature called quick share. You can send high res pics n vids via texting to iPhone users. It creates a Samsung cloud link for them to open or even download it if they want without sacrificing any quality. If you decide to get a Samsung, YouTube is your friend. There are so many useful features that make the phone a joy to use.

Has Apple hurt you some way? If all your friends are using it, your wife, and you’ve had good experience with it, why switch?

I’ve been with Samsung since the first S, and I won’t switch cuz it does what I want it to do, but I don’t pretend Apple is a villain or anything, just don’t bother switching because I already have the best Android.

Everything in your post is about your love of the iphone, stick with it.

I bought an Iphone 14 Pro for Amazon Flex and when I’m not using it for Flex it just sits on my desk. Honestly, I’m ugly as fuck so social media doesn’t appeal to me which means the Iphone features are all useless to me, I also hate the UI. In fact, I don’t even work for Amazon anymore so I need to get rid of it lol.

No offence, this iMessage (blue vs green) crap is only really important to Americans. The rest of the world figured out that everyone can use apps like “WhatsApp” regardless of OS.

You didn’t mention any reason why you even want to switch to an Android.

If costs aren’t an issue and you don’t need an Android phone for work, I’d just stick with an iPhone. It’s really no different from buying a car. Unless you’re going to offroad or you want to cut costs, there’s no point switching from a Mercedes to a Tundra.

It really doesn’t matter what your friends and family use. You should use what makes you happy and I’d say Samsung will probably make you happy.
