Was being stupid and did realize there was a concrete pilar to my left and swung out too fast. Could probably have prevented it from being so bad if I had gone slower… I’d prefer to be able to diy it to make it look better, as well as possibly seal it. The scratches are pretty deep. It looks like the paint coat is full chipped off in some places so I don’t know if I have to seal it somehow to prevent rusting or further chipping. Any and all help would be very appreciated!

Now you know why rates are so high for young drivers.

It’s just cosmetic. Just leave it as a reminder not to drive so poorly again.

Order of easiest to hardest. Skill curve goes up exponentially at #3 and #4.

    1. Slap similar paint on it and leave it as it is.

    2. Take to body shop, get it fixed under insurance.

    3. Take to body shop, pay for it yourself

    4. Scour scrapyards for the same car with clean drive side door, take door off said car, paint, if it doesn’t match. Or leave it with different paint.

    5. Try to fix it yourself (pretty much impossible)

Get some gum off and rub it over the scrapped area to get any residual paint removed. Once it’s removed clean it thoroughly and then you can see how bad the paint damage is.

There should be plenty of paint less dent repair professionals out there that can fix that dent to where it is at the very least unnoticeable to the naked eye, maybe even 100%. Once you get the dent removed and clean off the transferred paint you can see how bad that actually is and whether or not you need to repaint it.

Do not get insurance involved. You will pay for that many times over. Could live with it and use as reminder of your mistake.

There’s no DIY for this. You need a new door. You can use touch up paint, but it’s going to look even worse. That’s also not going to take the dent out. If you’re really trying to avoid using insurance, your best bet is to call around to local junkyards, and try to find a door that’s in better shape. If it’s the same color, even better. If not, you can then get a body shop to paint the door for you.

well this can be repaired of course but its gonna take a new door for sure and its gonna be expensive if you want it restored to factory conditions.

just for reference heres the damage on my car after someone swiped by that side.

new wheel, new quarter panel and the existing door is getting repainted entirely.

total cost ~5500€ which is about $6200
