2021 Camry, 45,000 miles. Was told by Toyota it has lifetime fluid, but others online say it should be changed every 50-60k. Should I have it flushed, just change whats in the transmission pan, or leave it be?
Drain and fill never flush
At the shop I work at, we would take a peek at 90k on a newer car and service it if its in bad shape, otherwise leave it. And the shop I work at is the biggest and busiest non corporate shop in my (big) city.
Drain and fill will be fine.
Would wait until 60k and perform a drain and fill.
I powered flushed my 2002 Tacoma per the Toyotas dealer’s recommendation and it blew up A few weeks later.
Look on line. Leave your transmission fluid alone…
Toyota dealer tech here, though admittedly an ametuer.
At our shop we usually Recc transmission fluid cycle around ~100k on newer CVT autos
I have yet to do one on a car newer than 2021 as well so I wouldn’t be worried about it for at least another 30k minimum
I am wondering, what would be the recommended mileage for automatic transmission fluid “drain and fill”. Thanks!
“Severe”, “Special”, “Heavy” use, whatever you want to call it specifies changing it at 60k.
Drain n fill. Don’t flush. There’s no such thing as lifetime.
No drain and fill only
Only flush if something has happened to it, like taking water. Otherwise follow the rest of the comments, drain and fill
Drain and fill only with the correct fluid. No such thing as lifetime fluid if you want the lifetime to be a while.
Idk I think its gonna clog the toilet but you can try
Never “flush” service with fluid and filter is good. Running any Flush through it. No. Even sucking fluid out and replacing every 2 years is good do not flush….
For all questions related to fluid maintenance, consult your user manual. It will give you the service interval for all fluids, including the transmission.
If it does say “lifetime”, I’d still recommend a simple drain/fill every so many miles. Maybe at 50k miles each time.
Before proceeding to replace transmission fluid, what the maintenance part from car manual says? Therefore it’s a manual or auto transmission? Usually manual transmission oil doesn’t require frequent oil replace, more over like once in 100k/150k km or 10y depends which one is reached first also to be checked and then replaced, also I don’t recommend for such an early model to replace it at 50k miles because there’s no point now unless you wanna waste some money, first take care of the engine then transmission.
“Lifetime” which i call BS.
