Title says it all. I’ve never seen one blow up like this. Is it possible?
I hit a pothole on Melba hwy which did this to my tyre
Looks almost like a clean cut
Let’s just say it could of been worse…this was the guy behind me
Ouch, that hurts to see, fuck.
Yea potholes can do some big damages. And it takes the city months to fix 1 sad
The rim, which is clearly filthy, is rubbed clean, and there is a huge gouge in the steel… Hmmmm… Buddy hit something that caused the tire to blow out like that. Period. And those tires should’ve been changed out for new last winter, possibly the winter before.
Crazyyyy I recently had a two tire blow out in my lright side and on the inside of the tire I had two similar “cuts” I would say it’s highly possible I think I still have the pics too
You can put your weed in there…
Rofl I had the same assumption, that sign must of been the man of steel 😂😂😂
Everyone saying no is 100% wrong. You can 100% hit something, NOT cut the tire and get a perfectly square hole like that. Big pot hole, object in the road, etc. the cords will “zipper” and thats how the straight cut forms.
Tire looks pretty old not much tread left - rim damage and all it still looks like some took a knife or a saw all to it
Absolutely not. That’s been cut out. Also; tire = rubber, rim = metal, wheel = two combined.
The sub-reddit doesn’t allow me to say tire or tyre.
1, that snow tire was done before this, 2, that looks like it hit a pot hole and the sidewall got pinched by the rim. It happens, but be thankful it’s not a cheap aftermarket wheel.
How does the sidewall look like on the inside of the tire? Driving on a flat tire can chew up the sidewall on the inside
That is either from a large pothole or a curb. That is a slice not a blowout.
No
It didn’t just explode spontaneously like that, probably what happened was when they hit the curb, they managed to nick the tire enough to gash it, but not completely cut into the tire. Then hit a pothole hard enough would cause that area to pop like that or some combination along those lines.
Generally no… But with the damage on the rim next to it, anything’s possible.
I didn’t even pay attention to that because the owner has hit a curb once when I was with him so I assumed that was a normal occurrence
Pinching the sidewall can really fck it up
I would guess it hit a anchor/stump/base from a street sign. Some are made to break away when hit and leave a post about that size sticking up a few inches, to which a new sign can be quickly attached.
