Yes, it looks kind of cool but a hatch is already out of the way when you open a normal hatch and this solution must have like 5-10 extra point of failure and possibility for it to jam. Edit: It also removes possible boot space!

I’m 6’5" and the idea of a trunk like this is great. I prefer side swinging myself, but this is better than up swinging.
