    Pocket rocket?

    Who has pockets this big?

It’s 0.9” shorter than my E36 M3 sedan and weighs only about 50lbs less. It’s 4.8” longer than a Golf GTI. More than a foot longer than a Fiesta ST, and 400lbs heavier.

It’s neat but goddamn, it sucks there’s no “hot hatch” as light as the GR86.

Your E36 sedan didn’t have to abide by the exponential increase in emissions, fuel economy, or crash test regulations that have had the opposite effect that they intended, forcing vehicles to get larger. Your M3 is old enough to qualify for antique license plates, and it’s one of the later years of E36 which was developed in the 1980s and first hit the road in the early 1990s.

It weighs 50 lbs less while being awd and meeting all regulations to be sold today.

Uh… holy shit… they got a 4.4 second 0-60 time. This thing hangs with the 500 horsepower Ford Mustang Dark Horse. 😭😭

Although, the 5-60 time is quite poor (6.0 seconds dead), showing that this thing is a peaky engine.

$51,420 before market adjustment. For that money you can get a second hand BMW M340i xDrive, or a Mercedes Benz C 63 AMG, Maserati Ghibli, etc etc.

    Its a nice car, but

Given the markup on GR Corollas, it might be more financially reasonable to do a turbocharged K-swap with AWD on a Fit

It may be a hell of a lot of money and difficult to purchase, but I’m still glad it exists. Long live the hot hatch!

The seats, window motors, door speakers, and wiper all go

On my car’s home subreddit, r/GolfGTI, there are occasionally people who do rear wiper deletes, to wildly mixed reception. Kind of boggles the mind that Toyota of all companies is this committed to the bit.

In any case, I’m glad that this thing exists. Spoke to some bloke at a car show the other week who just bought a regular GR Corolla, and from what he said, it really seems like a joyous little car. Would love to give it or the Yaris a go one day.

It’s too expensive. Assuming you can even find one at 50k there’s just better options in that segment. Especially if you’re paying the 60k that these are going for it’s just not worth it.

Toyota needs to give the regular models the same shorter gear ratios as the Morizo. So strange that they developed a whole different set of ratios for a one-year limited run model

Lots of hype for a mediocre car at the price. The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if Toyota didn’t use their muscle to convince Subaru to scrap the latest STI so that it wouldn’t steal thunder from the GR. We were all told it was coming a year after the WRX and then nothing. In theory, it should have outperformed the GR and I can see that embarrassing Toyota who owns a stake in Subaru
