It’s neat but goddamn, it sucks there’s no “hot hatch” as light as the GR86.
Your E36 sedan didn’t have to abide by the exponential increase in emissions, fuel economy, or crash test regulations that have had the opposite effect that they intended, forcing vehicles to get larger. Your M3 is old enough to qualify for antique license plates, and it’s one of the later years of E36 which was developed in the 1980s and first hit the road in the early 1990s.
It weighs 50 lbs less while being awd and meeting all regulations to be sold today.
