Hi everyone, my buddy just got a new OLED deck 1tb, popped it out of the box, took the charging brick in the box, plugged it in an outlet, put the USBC into the charging port, the LED won’t turn on, and the deck won’t power on. Tried multiple outlets in different rooms, confirmed the outlet was working using an iPhone. Don’t have a second USBC device to see if the power brick is broken. Long pressed the power button for 30 seconds, tried booting with a single press of the power button, and a volume up + power button hold. LED won’t turn on, steam deck won’t turn on. The boot up sound isn’t made when then power button is pressed.
Any ideas on next steps? Sent a message to support and am waiting on a reply.
I had this problem too. I held the “…” button and volume down buttom for like 10 seconds. Then pressed the power button and it finally started up. I didn’t have the charger plugged in while I did this.
I would track down another USB C Charger (and A usb c chargeable device) somewhere, just to prove its NOT the charger.
also just for laughs… rotate the usb c plug 180 Degrees and Plug it back in…
I cant recall what/where but i had some Odd issue with a device once, that even with USB C - it still managed to require a specific orientation of the plug.
Just came here to say that I have the exact same problem with an LE - no activity from the LED, held the power button down for over 30 seconds, tried the volume buttons and power - nothing at all from the deck. The charger seems to be working fine because I just tested it on an IPad and it started charging off it.
Keep waiting 🤷 I haven’t been through the process myself but their customer service has a great reputation. You might not get a reply until Monday though, depending on where the support service is located. Thanksgiving and the day after are holidays for a lot of businesses here in the US and the weekend is right after.
