Burn in on TVs at this point is mostly down to gross negligence from the owner. I have about 12,000 hours on my CX48 that I use for productivity, work, gaming, and school — it’s on almost all day… and I have no burn in.
Yeah oleds also have to be actually upkept. It isn’t just a panel it’s a technology that had to be cleaned and any risks minimised by the built in technology. You have very very minimal risk of burn in if you actually look after it , if you just leave YouTube or apex legends on standby a good amount of time though don’t you are running a risk. I have a strong suspicion like you say that most burn in is caused by users treating it like a normal TV.
funny enough the opposite for me, true blacks are really nice but it’s all about color vibrancy and detail to me. it’s like everything has a grey film over it(which also technically is caused by poor contrast ratio, but I don’t care about the actual black levels)
Yep. If there’s any darkness in the game it looks like ass on LCD compared to OLED. That’s the biggest reason I plan to upgrade (that and the 90hz refresh for a better 40-45 FPS experience).
Colour vibrancy is a nice bonus but OLED is all about true blacks for me.
Gahh I want it because of OLED but already have a Steamdeck
My phone, tablet, Switch, and TV are all OLED
Steamdeck is only device in my house not OLED
Sell it and buy it
I can’t watch a movie on an LCD anymore. The grey and the semi-lit scenes are so bad. I just hope they’ll become cheaper and even less burn-in-y.

I use mine as a monitor and edit photos on it in Photoshop, have done so for 3 years and absolutely no burn in.
Oled fills the 20 year gap from crt.

OLED is great but agreed with the colors. HDR is really what helps it shine.
I like my women like I like my OLED!
i hate too much color vibrancy, so i just want OLEDs for the true blacks
I would prefer something like sRGB with true blacks
