Anyone every convert to manual brakes?

I have a project car and basically will be replacing the whole system. I was looking at a manual brake setup. Is it comfortable for street and even some road track driving?

Older car doesn’t have abs, just looking at some options.

Yes I know I need a master/caliper/proportioning valve al configured to be compatible.

You will not believe how hard it is to stop from above 100 mph. Better have a heavy duty steering wheel since you’ll be pulling on that thing so hard you might bend a cheap one

That’ s because you have a poor or poorly maintained setup. Well setup non-assisted brakes can provide threshold braking without an obscene amount of pedal pressure.
