I had a tire pressure warning come up on screen during the drive yesterday but the on board computer said I can resume the drive as the car is equipped with run-flat tires.
Well, it turns out that these Pirelli tires are not run flats and the pressure dropped quickly and below critical. The car has no spare tire, no tire-puncture fix solutions in place, no high-jack or even a pump included.
The car is the “Ultimate pack”… Does this sound normal?
Bought the car new from BMW.
Runflats can be optioned in or out on almost any model depending on packages and options. Anyone saying they all come with or without is incorrect.
You can’t have run flats on M models. It’s not part of the official configuration for M models.
Maybe some dealerships swap out the regular for RF at the customer’s request? Some folks (not me) prefer to have RFT since they want to continue driving to a repair shop if they get a flat/puncture. I have RFT on my X3 M40i and once had a nail/screw in a tire. Pressure dropped to low 20s. I drove about 10 miles doing 30-40mph max; got a plug installed, and the tire has been fine the last 1.5yrs. When these OEM tires wear out, im getting regular HP all seasons tires.
It’s been a while but IIRC when you select track handling package you automatically get non-runflats.
