Norway had several chances of qualifying for the Euros but they never lived up to their expectations. Haaland is the best striker in the world and Odegaard is a top midfielder and captain, for both the national team and one of the best teams in the Premier League. Norway is still managing to feed Haaland, with an insane 27 goals. What gives, terrible tactics or synergy issues?

Ironically Norwegian club teams has very good coaches while the National team chooses coaches that are past their prime which sadly Solbakken is.

Just for clarification some are now saying Halaand didn’t win because of the team he is on? But none of his goals or success in the prem is because of the team he is on? Interesting.

Odegaard has played for six [6] professional teams; he has only delivered in 1 of them. People calling him “one of the best in the world”, clearly only watch Premier League. He is superb with Arsenal, but as a Real Madrid, Vitesse, Real Sociedad and Norway national team player, he is subpar. I watched him when Norway faced Spain [a real opponent]: lost in the field, unable to driblble or link up to Haaland/Sorloth.

Erling is one of, if no the best player in the world, no doubt. He has proved himself again and again. Football sometimes has this kind of things: Sweeden had its most recen success…right when Ibra wasnt playing for them.

Going off Norway’s instagram; I genuinely think Ståle Solbakken likes the sound of his own voice and is just there for the good vibes.

We have had a bad national team for 20 years. We had some good generations but they cant do it on the pitch. Some players over the years seems to have permanent place on the team even if the dont play/bad form on clubteam (Stefan Johansen, Stefan Strandberg, Markus Henriksen). Right now we lack GK and defence… and it seems like a mental problem for our players. We miss out every time. Biggest disappointment in football this century for me. I feel every manager is the same. Its the same old story. Same excuses… We haven’t been in a championship since Euro 2000…

the rest of the squad has better options than the likes of albania or romania, both qualified to the euros. it also has better players than scotland, who eliminated norway

I mean, yeah that’s how it works. You need a team and a great manager. Sweden has Isak, Kulusevski, Forsberg and Lindelof and crashed out not even remotely close in a all things considered very easy group.

Meanwhile much “lesser” teams get through. You need 11 and you need tactics. Simple (but not easy)

Team sports has never generally been a norwegian thing anyways. Maybe with the exception of woman’s handball. Norwegians are individualist. You can put some ski on their feets a let them go 10, 20, 30 or 50km and “no one in the world” will beat tham". It’s some of it in football as well. Too many individualist not making a good collective/team. That was the difference in the 90s when they got to WCs and a Euro. Many of the players were not world class, but together they made a great collective/team.

Because Norway spotted his talent and snapped him up before he was even on England’s radar.

He’s been in the Norway youth system since before he even started playing at striker. He started out at a 2nd tier team in Norway so was never actually expected to develop into a world class player who would have a chance at playing for England. It wasn’t even a guarantee he would become a professional footballer at that point as he was setting junior age bracket records in Long Jump You can hardly blame him aged 14 for opting to play for Norway when their U15s team called him up.

2 world class players isn’t enough if the other 9 are crap

Sounds a bit harsh. They have a couple other decent players I guess like Ostigard and Sorloth, but to be honest, the squad is not well rounded

Also the manager has made a lot of suspect decisions
