I know at one point an LA reveal was part of the plan. I don’t know if the pushed-back sale date means we now stay in the dark until spring, or we might get some kind of tease in the interim just to maintain interest in a car that’s starting to seem like a receding mirage.
World premier is in January, I think.
So the CX-70 will be most likely something like the CX-60 which we have here in Europe. Smaller CX-90 with 5 seats only. I’m still waiting for the CX-80 which should have one row of seat more and should be announced this year. At least this was the initial plan. Was not able to find any info if this still will happen.
Just remember the base for the car is smaller than in US.
That is fine with me. I keep reading that the CX-70 will be slightly wider than the CX-60 to suit the US market.
My dealer said they are expecting a demo unit next month. Not sure how much truth there is to it, but if true I would expect an announcement soon…
Got my LAIAS tix. Will report the CX70, if it does show up (doubtful though)…
I hope, but I don’t think it will happen. Many thought when the CX-50 was announced it too would be demo’d at the LA AutoShow. But I suspect we’re close to an official announcement given production starts in January.
To be honest I’m no longer excited for the CX-70. Mazda has said it’s literally going to have the same dimensions as the CX-90. It’s just a 2 row CX-90. Complete waste of time
Everyone stating it’s the same size is simply referencing a FAQ from earlier this year’s earnings report that states “same body”. Read if for yourself from the source.
I don’t know about you, but same body could mean a lot of things. Same body style, same body platform, same body dimension? Of course, same body dimension is coming from JSS youtube channel who works at a dealership so it has some credibility but that’s not official mazda. Official mazda has always said the CX-70 will be a “wider” version of what we should be the 2-row CX-60.
Anyway, I guess it depends on how you look at it and which dimension you’re hoping for. Many want it to be the wider version of the CX-60.
Get excited again as it’s not over yet until the reveal!
Have you seen the Cx50. It’s a lateral car with the CX5 with some differences. Both still selling great
If a two-row version of the CX-90 is such a groundbreaking idea that Mazda absolutely must implement to reach 500,000 vehicles sold yearly in the US, where was a CX-7 based on CX-9 all these years? I don’t buy it. I guess time will tell.
