There are some fans who support teams cause their favourite players play in it. But it’s not as common to change the team you support cause your favourite manager left and personally I think that’s a fair metric too. I really like Jurgen Klopp’s style of play, if he left Liverpool and went to like Ipswich town or something then I would wholeheartedly support Ipswich town over Liverpool. Is that weird?

It’s weird. Now you can just be a lover of a game and never truly support a team and follow the manger or players. Love me some pep but I don’t support man city.

Uncommon, yes. But is it weird? No. Coaches/ Managers sometimes have that unique-ness in their philosophy. And sometimes they can bring a new, wholly different gameplan. Example, like you said is the Gegenpress (yes, Klopp wasn’t the first one who used this philosophy, but he definitely popularized it), Conte 3 ATB, etc.

Me personally? I’m watching Fernando Diniz currently, he has that unique close space football that reminds me of street football. Really captures the joga bonito in essence. Sure, the Brazil NT result isn’t that good currently, i think it’s because the player (or culture) doesn’t change yet. But yeah, if he takes job in europe, i can’t say that i’ll become X club fan, but for sure i’ll watch a lot of them matches.

Relationism, yeah. Renato Gaucho at Gremio has a similar philosophy to Diniz, too. I am enjoying this style of play coming back. It reminds me a bit of early tiki-taka. I think the main problem with Brazil at the moment is a lack of confidence. So many of the players were sloppy in the Uruguay match, Neymar getting injured was just the nail in the coffin. I haven’t been following Fliminense lately, but they have dropped down the table a bit, I guess this season has been a bit rough for Diniz in general. Let’s see how it pans out til Ancelotti becomes the gaffa.

Might sound weird at first but think about it, a lot of the reason you’re a fan of a particular club or team is because of the players or their style of play. So there’s a good reason to change support for a team cause your favourite manager left

I mean I’m more of a neutral fan, I feel like I love the sport in general and I don’t really follow a specific club more than others. I have a soft spot for some teams just cause I like them more than others.

Because of this I feel like I’m happy that city won the CL because i enjoy Peps football. I am also happy if United had more success because I enjoy what Erik Ten Hag did at Ajax. I like Mourinho as a person so when he was at Spurs I was rooting for their success. One of my fave players ever is Xavi so I like watching barcas midfield improve over time because that’s Xavis vision being executed.

I don’t think my case is abnormal. However, the way you describe it sounds more like an individual being a fan of solely one team, simply because their favourite manager is there. Seems a bit like you’re following the celebrity more than the sport and I guess then it’s odd, yes.

You’re a Klopp Fan, same as people are a Messi or a Ronaldo fan, you are not a Liverpool supporter.

That’s fine, your call, whatever makes you happy, but it’s deffinately not normal and makes it pretty difficult to take you seriously.

Not support but favour. Being Scottish, I wanted Man United to do well with Sir Alex being Scottish. When Klopp came to Liverpool, I wanted him to do well, being the character that he is (now, not so much). Now I want Spurs to do well as Agne is a breath of fresh air. I am bearing in mind at the same time that it’s no skin off my nose if these particular sides lose as I don’t support any of them. Just that managers can influence favouritism.
