Uncommon, yes. But is it weird? No. Coaches/ Managers sometimes have that unique-ness in their philosophy. And sometimes they can bring a new, wholly different gameplan. Example, like you said is the Gegenpress (yes, Klopp wasn’t the first one who used this philosophy, but he definitely popularized it), Conte 3 ATB, etc.
Me personally? I’m watching Fernando Diniz currently, he has that unique close space football that reminds me of street football. Really captures the joga bonito in essence. Sure, the Brazil NT result isn’t that good currently, i think it’s because the player (or culture) doesn’t change yet. But yeah, if he takes job in europe, i can’t say that i’ll become X club fan, but for sure i’ll watch a lot of them matches.
