I think the NFL do it pretty well:
When replay is invoked;
Referee: “The call on the field is [blah blah blah]. The play is under review.”
[Review happens. Mic is off.]
Referee: “After further review the call on the field:
- Is confirmed
- Is reversed
- Stands as called
Referee: [a short explanation of what happened]
Our team do their job chaotically, rather than competently, therefore we need to hide what they do from the public. You lot happy now? 🙂
Here’s how F1 do it in outside broadcast. It can be shown https://youtu.be/lCHggit6eGQ?si=1LRdyyEmQKoQ27d6
It’s harder fix matches if you can hear the banter, innit?
The reason is because its embarrassing on the refs- its amateurishly bad and the audio has only gone to expose how decisions are being incorrectly made.
If it’s chaotic that would explain why they don’t get decisions correct, it’s because they haven’t a clue and are just screaming random crap.
Well that explains the mistakes, if it is “Too Chaotic” then nobody really knows what’s going on anyways. So maybe release the audio and start looking to streamline things. Rugby is far more complicated and seems to have a pretty solid system for TMO (not perfect but still better).
Also if it is that chaotic there will be some weirdo on the internet who will be able to work out what is going on anyway
Yea would love to hear the var room for that absolutely pathetic penalty in the Manchester Derby…
Still can’t believe everyone’s default is to just blame var and refs rather than blaming Hojlund for a lazy/stupid foul.
The issue there is that foul occurs in virtually every game and is rarely, if ever, penalised. It was a foul, but the lack of consistency is stunning.
The penalty was legit. The only problem with it, is that more like it aren’t given.
Obstruction in the box for set pieces is a scourge of the game and needs to stamped out somehow.
Then get off the piss before clocking on you muppets.
“Too chaotic, yes, that’ll do”
When you got a bunch of them screaming and shouting. They all sound so excited like a bunch of kids.
Then they try and go all ‘army language’ when talking to the on field ref. It’s a mess because we trained a bunch of clowns.
If it’s too chaotic to broadcast maybe you should make it less chaotic not just refuse to broadcast it……
A reasonable solution? How preposterous! Don’t you know who you’re talking about?!
I was watching Dunkirk the other day and it struck me that the pilots were speaking so calmly in life or death situations. Using clear concise language to get the exact message they wanted across. Someone in the comments said this was deliberate as the RAF trains pilots to remain calm under stressful intense situations.
So maybe PGMOL should take some training in how to communicate clearly instead of hiding behind the scenes. The fact that the VAR room is so chaotic is a massive problem and will inevitably lead to errors. Don’t treat the fans like idiots, just look at the obvious flaws and fix them.
Yes we know. That’s the problem you incompetent twats.
