So Messi just won his 8th Ballon d’Or, the highest in the history of football by miles. But when asked if he thinks he is the best player in the history of football, his response was- “I don’t know if I’m the best player in history or not, but to be among the best is a great honor”.
How can a man be so humble, given all the accolades he has achieved, and the un-humanly performances he has given over the years? There are players who are not half his worth, who don’t hesitate for a second before boasting themselves as the self-proclaimed GOAT.
I guess even personality-wise, Messi is out of this world, just like he is on the pitch.
Because he’s very quiet
- He’s extremely introverted
- Because he’s extremely introverted he prefers to just say things noncontroversial, keep things short and get on with life keeping to himself and his own thoughts
- Exactly why it’s a dream to move to the USA, cos no one understands football and he doesn’t get bothered too much
- Bro just wants to be by himself and his family lmaooo he’s no attention seeker cos he just straight up just doesn’t want attention
- True
- Na. He has a great PR team and he is disciplined enough to follow their advice. He is also quite dim, so he probably tries to speak the minimum so his mmmmmm dimness isn’t as exposed.
- It was a dream move for him for plenty of reasons; not the least being that he has been given a franchise in the MLS, access to the US (and what that means politically/culturally for him and his family) and of course, stupid amounts of money for basically making an appearance at games.
- See 1-3
He’s a disrespectful piece of shit but media never shows his bullshit.
He is very far from being humble.
Grabbing players by the neck, slapping, provoking coaches and bench players, cursing at refs, etc.
He’s anything but humble. That’s his “image”. His true personality comes out in the pitch where he bullies other players because he thinks he’s better than them. Not to mention in the 2019 Copa America he refused to acknowledge his 3rd place medal and claimed corruption after the tournament. It’s no coincidence that afterwards CONMEBOL and FIFA catered to him and he’s won every major NT tournament since, including some obscure one off EURO-CONMEBOL Cup that’s been defunct way before he was even born. Well, by “won” I mean gifted.
Truth is Messi’s a dick but people overlook this aspect of him because he’s the media’s darling.
He is from my generation.
Because brain see ball, brain activate.
Lets see, he was raised in a humble familly in argentina, had growth problems that barcelona paid for the treatment. In barcelona as stated by Ibrahimovic, they did not act as superstars, but as children obeying the teacher (guardiola), so yes, add all that and you get your answer
Introvert, you can’t help it.
Because he is not a massive egoistic asswipe like the other 🐪
He did not deserve it for his last season. But hey ho. It is a popularity contest… 🤷♂️
Cry more.
I have no problem with Messi getting it. My main issue is that the reason Messi got it was the same reasons that in the past were not enough for others to get it
2010 Xavi and Iniesta are the prime example. Won their country their only world cup ever, Iniesta even scored the iconic winning goal, Messi got it because of his insane numbers and UCL top scorer. And I think he earned it because he was the best player in the world that year
Why does that not apply this year? If the penalties in the final went a different way he wouldn’t have won the Ballon D’Or? What sense does that make?
The crying never ends. LMAO
Yeah. World Cup is the most popular tournament, so it’s given a higher weight. What’s your problem with it?
These people have PR teams to construct a public persona…
