I mean, I’m not saying that there was any corruption or explicit instruction to give them a penalty, but even the minor thought that a certain club’s state-owners might pay me/hire me more often can be incredibly enticing.

We’ve already had some questionable decisions go against us, just as Liverpool have had them also go in their favour this season but honestly who cares? There’s no conspiracy, just refs of questionable ability like any profession.

The reason we won’t win the league, or even get close, is because beyond maybe 12 or 13 players our squad lacks the required depth. It won’t be because of some corrupt ref helping Man City.

The reason we won’t win the league

Calling yourself a fan when you don’t even have faith in your team…

Being a fan doesn’t mean living in cloud cuckoo land. Look at the mess Ange inherited, look at how long it’s been since we last won a trophy and look at the resources available to Liverpool, City and Arsenal.

This seasons aim was never to win the league, and it would be very unfair to put that expectation on Ange and the squad now. Especially after 10 games. We’re doing brilliantly well, much better than any Spurs fan expected.

Being a fan is about being behind the team and club through thick and thin. It’s not about just expecting instant success, that’s just being a glory hunter. I signed up for a season ticket again this season despite living hundreds of miles outside of London and putting up with all sorts of shit last season. I didn’t do it just because I thought we’d be winning.

I guess we just have different ideas about what being a fan is.
