As someone who owns the LCD AG, I can confirm loss of vibrancy with the etched screen. I can also confirm that the AG screen doesn’t do great in bright environments anyways.
I don’t think it’s overblown. The glossy is better, yet cheaper. People just thought their LE or 1TB was going to suck, but that’s not what anybody said. They said the AG slightly degrades picture quality, and they’re right.
It’s a shame there isn’t a glossy 1TB, so the community doesn’t have to be split between buyer’s remorse and seeking validation from YouTubers. Clearly Valve made an error, and that’s what people don’t want to focus on.
I don’t feel this changes anything. The glossy is better than the etched in the exact manner that was predicted. People have long known how glossy and anti-glare screens work. I think Redditors are too quick to get swept up in what random people say online.
I doubt the thread is alleviating anxieties for people who will and are currently having problems :P
