Maintaining the moral high ground will not ensure you a victory over an entirely immoral enemy. One of the reasons Hitler was able to grab power is because his opponents refused to break the rules to stop him.

You cannot prove a negative. For example, if I say “prove that you are not a murderer” there is nothing you could possibly do to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that you have never murdered anyone.
