  • What I was trying to articulate was the process of cracking the device. As in, stealing some code (exploits), modifying it a little bit, and compiling it. In order to do any of that, you need Apple hardware (or Apple’s secret flag) and then a specific version of MacOSX to even compile the thing, since downloading the SDK (which isn’t made easily public) requires a specific version of Xcode which only works on certain versions of MacOSX. If I did this on literally any other platform I could just pull out gcc/clang and wack some libraries together. There are too many signs from Apple that they have manufactured planned obsolescence in order to get you to buy a new device.

  • Comparison is the thief of joy 🙃

Though if I push my scanner hard it could probably do 16k/sec on the single core and 1gig connection it is on. The problem is how reliably I could do 16k/sec over the network, since a good portion would be dropped even if the host’s hardware could keep up.

I’d probably need access to enterprise-level equipment that could handle the routing load if I were to do it in 5 seconds lol, it’s insane they managed to do that
