  • this is gonna be a hot take but idc, for me kiss land mogs every single project from bbtm to dawn fm, i might even say its better than trilogy for me (trilogy is great but personally i only really enjoy like a couple songs from there but kiss land i enjoy the whole thing) everything else just feels kind of dull. kiss land is so consistent in what it does, ppl would say that after hours is better but ive listened to the whole album multiple times over and it was my introduction to him and i just cant see it, it just doesnt have the same feeling that kiss land does for me. kiss land, to me, is the closest thing to perfection he has ever made. like dont get me wrong trilogy was revolutionary and it changed alt rnb forever but kiss land is like this perfect amalgamation of different sounds, instruments and aesthetic that all fit together beautifully into this enormous cinematic experience that feels like a movie, its grand, its dramatic, its futuristic, its dark, its tragic, it is a musical, lyrical and cinematic masterpiece. i could literally go on for a hours upon hours about why this album for me is not only the best album from the weeknd, but the best album from any artist ive ever heard. i have yet to encounter an album that resonates with me the way kissland does. i know most ppl like after hours and abel’s new stuff and while i do as well, i cant help but feel like he is limiting himself from his full capabilities. his music now , while some songs are good, they never really hit me with more than a surface-level “oh this is catchy” feeling. i listen to his new music very casually but i always give kissland my full attention. it’s almost sacred to me.
