Not recent, but I spent the majority of my teenage years dealing with awfully frizzy and unmanageable hair because I was shampooing daily (also using an excessive amount). I was under the impression that you need to thoroughly shampoo all oils away every time you shower in order to be “clean.” When I moved to university and no longer had parents around to tell me that I stink, my hygiene standards became more… relaxed, but I was surprised that my hair was a lot healthier!

This one hurts. He was taken by the same disease that Robin Williams had…

In brief, it’s a good program under the jurisdiction of an awful organization. Even if the abuse incidents never happened, there are fundamental aspects of the experience that I find quite objectionable, to the point that they’re hard to overlook in favor of the positives, but I don’t think I can adequately convey the nuance of those feelings without literally writing an essay.

That said, there IS a lot of merit to a community teaching practical, social, and civic skills to young people, even if the institution of scouting has too much baggage to be the one to do it

yeah, that’s completely fair. I haven’t had any noteworthy issues but I understand that isn’t exactly typical with a rolling distro haha

otoh, I migrated to cachy from Windows just over a year ago, and haven’t really encountered any friction whatsoever despite my only prior Linux experience being installing Mint on an old laptop (which was a miserable endeavor, but that was entirely due to the sorry state of the laptop).

I’m probably a lot more willing to tinker than the average non-technical user, but it can be fine for newbies if they’re willing to learn
