  • I tell people that I’d be more than happy to send them a comprehensive youtube video so they can do it themselves but because I hate working on cars myself I’d have to charge them.

    Keep it respectful with firm boundaries and people usually understand. If it’s an emergency like a no start or something dangerous I’ll usually investigate for free but for stuff like brakes, fluid changes, yeah, you gotta throw me a few bones, that’s time that I could be using for my own projects




  • Estimating VERY liberally, 400$ for 4 rotors, 100$ for 4 brake pads, 50$ for two inner tie rods. 200$ for tools? You could get this done at home for 750 max.

    Brakes are fairly easy to work on yourself, if you can change oil you can do brakes

    Also I’m am also highly sus that all 4 of them need replacing on a 2013. Are you experiencing any steering wheel sloppiness or clunking?

    Also you don’t usually replace calipers preventatively, unless you live in the rust belt or smth. But 126k miles they should still be perfectly fine
