For the Switch, check out the Hori Split Pad Pro and Split Pad Comfort. They really fix the ergonomic issues with the stock Joycons. Downside is no rumble, gyro, wireless or NFC.

Hori makes some Joycon replacements are quite comfortable and ergonomic, maybe give those a try for your switch.
EDIT: They don’t have rumble, gyro or wireless though, sadly.
And here I am just using my Steam Deck and not being neurotic.
Yes - like most things on the internet this really just a tempest in a teapot.
The limited edition was just Valve figuring out the quirks in the supply chain for doing multiple color ways. That’s all it was. They “limited” the amount available so that they didn’t end in a mess where there was a masssive backlog of orders they couldn’t deliver on in a timely manner.
I’m sure we’ll be seeing one or more additional color ways launched in the next year, and I’m probably going to regret getting this one once they announce a white Aperture Laboratories edition.
I find it extremely comfortable and ergonomic. I personally don’t have any issues with the weight, but I play primarily sitting upright and often at a desk so that might be a factor. I also rarely play for more than 2, maybe 3 hours at a time.
