This ui has never rendered videos correctly. Needs a good bit of work to make it happen.
I actually don’t know how we would make a bridge. The tech seems pretty different. But we should be able to generate a private key for every user and have all events pushed to both nostr and lemmy. Think I still need to learn a bit more about it. I bet more people will join in on this effort and it would take a few people. I also never got great at federation code. alex here knows it really well. It would probably be easier to make a whole new ui than to port lemmy to nostr to be honest. I want to hear more people talk about how to do it before I say to much because I still don’t fully understand the nostr community spec.

I have two ideas i want to build on nostr.
We could also build a bridge from lemmy to nostr and i’ve been thinking about how to accomplish it. I don’t really have a good mental map of how it would work yet.
He was gonna do groups in soap box but I guess he’s moved over to nostr

That dude was on so many drugs and had no idea what was going on. He’s talked about how he regretted much of what happened and he’s been vocal these days about taking the power to ban away from big tech.
That said yes never again but if he wants to throw bit coins at someone who makes a good client I mean it only helps the ecosystem.
Bitcoin stuff is kinda annoying. I feel like Jack from twitter is giving a bunch of these programmers bitcoins to write nostr clients and relays and that is what’s attracting them.
Anyways, eventually it will attract different users if we can make it easy enough to use.
I didn’t expect the fediverse to be like it is so hopefully there won’t be terrible surprises with nostr.
At face value it seems like a much better protocol for most things.
It does end up being worse in practice because defederation is used as some sort of virtue signal. In real life walls are expensive, difficult to erect and there is always a group of people trying to take it down. In the fediverse walls are easier than having a polite disagreement. Admins don’t understand the issues and will usually cave to the loudest rather than the correct voices. I’m hopeful nostr will address these issues over the next two years.
Bots could do all kinds of funny things and would not at all be difficult to write and run. The API is pretty easy to work with. I think I would make it so you could reply delete for it to delete it’s reply to make it feel a little less spammy.
We can fairly easily write bots to cross post. And it is possible with this nip to integrate further. We could possibly move Exploding heads to nostr entirely. Kapow is open to that idea but I think that would be a ways off.
None of these are ready. The experience is still bad and the spec is still subject to change. But it does have the potential to fix the defederation problem with the fediverse. In practice I’m not sure about it’s scalability but I suppose that can be solved as we go
Ahh yes. 93% inflation every three years is totally normal.
I don’t know where those videos are coming from. So I’m not sure how it works. You can’t actually upload videos with nostr so it’s gotta be just their own video service. It’s really expensive to host videos like that I don’t think they can afford more than a few people uploading videos.
