Lemmy.world Support@lemmy.world•Is there a way for lemmy to hide on vote?
1·9 days agoThank you very much for your reply, Rimu!
Actually I activated this option, but at least for me it is a pity that posts that I have opened or voted for also disappear. I want to actively decide for a post to go away. like an e-mail inbox.
But there is a 50%-workaround for me; I will just continue using Voyager with it’s built-in app specific hide feature.

Lemmy.world Support@lemmy.world•Is there a way for lemmy to hide on vote?
1·9 days agoInteresting issue; I use Voyager app, because there I can swipe away posts, and then they are hidden from me. I really miss this bad in Piefed-Web-UI, so I rarely use it.
For me, it is a must-feature that I can follow this kind of inbox-zero-workflow.
Now I know that it is possible in PieFed too, with the described options (see other comments). It seems to me, though, that up-/downvoting only to make the post hidden is not the ideal way (although it works for the individual user). Opening it to hide it is also not perfect; several interactions instead of one (like in Voyager), and maybe I do not want it to disappear after reading. Maybe I also want to vote but still keep it visible. Voyagers approach is best, it seems to me.
It would be great if, in Lemmy and PieFed Web, there was an efficient way to hide - independent of voting or reading. Maybe there is - and I don’t know it?!
(PS. : I just saw that this community here is dedicated to the lemmy.world-instance - not to lemmy-software or even PieFed. I hope it is okay to bring about this topic, here, anyway.)

Fediverse@lemmy.world•How to get non technical friends in the fediverse?English
1·23 days agoNow I figured out by systematic trying how to make sure that Facebook actually shows the post with images, and not only the link. I tried it with pixelfed. It worked 2 times when I pasted the link into a new post in the web app of Facebook, but it did not work when I posted the same link from the android app. Weird, but manageable.:) Example where it works: https://www.facebook.com/774580511/posts/10175467680010512/

21·29 days agoRegarding your "example’: That’s new to me, being a German. in this broad way the statement is wrong, i suppose. ChatGPT confirmed this. there is no law against denying the right of Israel to exist. It is only true that German politics has ever since Second World War felt a historical responsibility to support Israel against antisemitism.

Ye Power Trippin' Bastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Update-> I Was Banned Comments blocked on the Ukraine community for being considered "Rule 3"?
2·1 month agoI just searched for your username, supersquirrel , because I missed your posts on Ukraine. Then I realized that your question post, asking why the previous post had been removed, was removed too… Then I found this here.
I hate the intolerance that I have seen before by a moderator on Mastodon, too, against an active poster. I think it is damaging the fediverse and of course productive democratic exchange. But it seems to lie in the nature of the fediverse, as s number of users commented. :(
Anyway, supersquirrel, I really want to get my daily dose of updates from Ukraine. Is there another place where you will post your interesting information? I would be very happy not to have to go back to reddit!

Fediverse@lemmy.world•How to get non technical friends in the fediverse?English
7·1 month agoMy chosen, tender way to motivate non tech people to leave big Tech platforms for the fediverse is to post sth nice (nice pics, family info,…) on Friendica, Pixelfed or Lemmy, and then paste the link on Facebook, so that my Facebook friends see it, like what they see, get curious what’s that strange platform they had never heard of, register.

Problem 1: Sometimes FB shows the linked posts picture, sometimes it doesn’t. Problem 2: Some instances deactivate that content can be shown by external platforms like FB.
So far I did it three times; 1 (my friendica instance) didn’t show the pic though. So far, the success count is still on 0. But I still hope it will work :)

1·1 month agoThank you for the hint on the article and your points regarding my question! Regarding Matrix : yeah, also other guys here pointed me at that. Good to know better now ; before I thought it was part of fediverse. now I know that fediverse is basically defined by some level of communication via ActivityPub.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•How many accounts should I have for the fediverse?English
1·1 month agoThank you for your input. I was fearing right that; that for having the full functionality you need a native account for the respective service (in most cases). But it is not very problematic for me. I just didn’t want to do a complete stupidity by opening five accounts instead of using just one. Thanks again!

313·1 month agoWho is more famous in Germany; Micaela Schäfer or Dorothee Elmiger? I would say the winner of the German book prize 2025. You would probably pick the ‘model’,because more people know her. Fame is not objective. Well, it is not relly important here anyway.

1·1 month ago💯 exactly. Question remains: what is the consequence of this detailed (and in my eyes correct) analysis? Well, maybe this very generalized discussion goes too far beyond the concrete case. But those questions have been on my mind too for a few months; Is the fediverse good but too complicated for this world?

Great to have found you again on !ukraine@lemmy.world! 👍👏 🌻 Thx for continuing your work! 🙏💪
ps.: but i just wondered: how can you write around 20 posts plus comments per day, over different communities? Do you actually fully read all the articles that you post here? Do you use AI for your posts? (personally, i’m not against AI, if used in the right way.)
