I can tell we both have/had centerlocks, because this is my same sentiment. People who have never owned them think they’re the best thing since sliced bread.
Once you do, you realize how much extra effort it takes to do tire changes, patches, even some services.
Actually, the real reason is because Porsche financial and the Porsche factory drops support for new vehicles / demo vehicles with over 5000 miles. Keeping the mileage under 5000 ensures that when they sell the car, it still qualifies for whatever incentives are available as well as promotional financing as a new/dealer demo.
The 2017+ R8s are just as reliable and solid as any modern 911.
