Draw.
Draw.
I scored 5 against the local rivals on my debut for a new Under 9s team.
Ignoring the Premier League bias here, that has to be up there. Certainly the best debut ever.
I think your points are fair, but I don’t see anyone else other than a European or South American team winning the world cup in the next 20-30 years.
Over those longer time frames, who knows what the culture will be in the US, especially after the world cup there in a few years. With Messi in the MLS and the premier league growing, it seems on an upwards trend. That is why I said I thought they still had the most potential to win it, if things ever do finally click for them.
Surely the USA? They are the big one for me, if things click they easily have the most potential of anyone.
I’m not so sure, Africa has some quality players but it is quite rare to get enough depth across the whole squad.
They often have 1 or 2 superstars, a handful of decent players, but then at least a few weak links. Plus, lots of their best players play for other countries with more potential, like France.
What have Newcastle done to deserve a points reduction?
The biggest issue for me is that there are 20 teams in the league who are forced to play by different financial rules. It just seems so wrongs that a team like Man United can outspend Burnley legally each and every season by £10s of million.
Formula One introduced a budget cap which handicapped the biggest teams and gave the smallest ones a realistic chance of reaching the cap limit. So in theory, this creates a level playing field. Teams can still invest in their infrastructure and facilities so bigger teams still can potentially buy a bit of advantage but nothing like before.
The Premier League has gone the other way and made it based on revenues, so the big teams’ advantages is forever built into the system.
I’m not saying a budget cap is the solution, but FFP isn’t either.
It depends on the team. If it is an underdog like a West Ham, then I’ll be behind them.
If it is someone like Man Utd or Liverpool, probably not.
That said, the Istanbul final, I was fully behind AC, but by the time it was 3-3, I was fully behind Liverpool for the way they came back. I was over the moon when they won on pens. I remember walking into a Walkabout afterwards and Karl Kennedy from Neighbours was playing a set (wtf?!). He opened with YNWA and the place went mental. It sounds like I’m making that up, but it really did happen, I think.
