All in the title. In discussion with a few friends, I mentioned that I was rooting for Liverpool in '05 in the CL final against AC Milan, and people were surprised… it seems this is not as common as I thought.

So, what’s your attidute towards your clubs’ local rivals when they are in continental competitions?

No ok sometime spurs but it’s not about loving the team but more about pity but most of the time I’ll just support other teams such as dortmund

Depends who they are playing against, also never ever any oil club. They can crash and burn for all I care

Liverpool fan I was rooting for United when they beat Bayern as that Bayern team were insufferable ego maniacs. But I was cheering for Chelsea until they lost.

I root for them to do well until the final. I don’t want them to win the title, but I’d like the boost to the UEFA coefficient

No Man United fan roots for Liverpool, and visa-versa.

I think it’s the one thing fans of both teams can agree on.

    Absolutely not.

Now if some random team that I don’t particularly dislike (Crystal Palace?) were to make a run in one of the European competitions? Sure, why not - especially if they are playing against a club I don’t like from another country.

Usually yes, your team is winning by proxy. If City bullies the Premier League while being the best in the world as well it says something different about your team than if they constantly were knocked out of the CL group stage. Plus there is no team I despise more than Real Madrid and they are usually the alternative to an English team winning so…

    Depends on the situation.

I’d root for City over Madrid… but I think I’d take more joy in seeing Arsenal or Liverpool get completely embarrassed in the same tie.

If Leicster did something that one year, that would have been cool to see, (hard to do without Kante)… I guess similar to the way people were happy for West Ham to do well.

    Everyone loves a long shot.

Supporting the English teams in Europe is an old fashioned idea. I think people used to do do that cos English teams were all full of English players. Now a days we all want our prem rivals to lose in Europe (mainly cos we don’t want to have to play each other). Although saying that I was routing for West Ham in their final last year

Hell no, it was absolute hell when city, liverpool and chelsea won their respective champions league titles. I would want teams like west ham and aston villa to do well in europe tho
