I feel you. I was laid off recently but I was also moonlighting so I just transitioned that to my main job. Its a tough market out there right now, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a recession soon, if we’re not already in one.

I think I liked all the ones I owned but switch was my fav since it had so much and 3rd party classics and everything and it was power efficient, compact, portable. Steam deck has taken over for me though. Way more of a swiss army knife.

Seriously. These CEOs need to get their heads out of their asses and open their eyes. My gaming PC is from 2019. My newest machine is lower power than that. A steam deck. And they’ve ruined the steam machine pricing too.

AAA games cost a lot, use basically all the same formulas from the past decade or two, and are expensive to make. They need to target less lofty graphics if they want to sell more copies. Less and less can afford bleeding edge hardware. Now is the time to double down in quality instead of fancy graphics. And this is why they’re losing and indies are thriving.

Gamers nexus did a cost analysis. The valve tax was something like 76$. Steam deck is similar from what i recall, they just want to get the hardware out so people use steam. And they dont lock it down either, SK they can’t sell it at a loss like someone like Sony can.

Honestly I find myself going more and more old school. Thrift stores, Craigslist, garage sales since the dominant platform here requires a 360 degree set of pictures of your head for verification just to create an account.

More and more I get stonewalled by bullshit like this and I just close the tab in frustration and go elsewhere.

Thing that irks me most about this shit is the hardware is basically irrelevant these days. Its just a PC in a custom case with a custom operating system at the end of the day. Except the switch, aren’t they all running x64 hardware?
