As temperatures rise, ticks of several kinds are flourishing in ways that threaten people’s health.3·22 hours agoIt’s probably a good general advice to ask your doctor for “local” vaccinations whenever you move.
The encephalitis vaccine is very common here in southern Germany, but usually skipped in the north where ticks are quite uncommon (which is reasonable, since it’s pretty aggressive, being sick for a day or two after the jab is not unlikely).

Although I think my perspective is a bit skewed, having grown up in a tick hotspot here in Germany. Everyone is aware of ticks here, pretty sure it’s taught in elementary school. And the encephalitis vaccine is pretty much standard, too.

bob_lemon@feddit.orgto Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•If you want to build apartments and homes in Nashville, you are required to build parking for cars. Otherwise, the city council will kill your project. English6·1 day agoAs far as I’m aware, the big issue is the parking minimums at businesses, not residential buildings. I.e. what you call point B, rather than point A. That’s what basically forces huge unwalkable strip malls. Which forces them out of the city. Which forces people to always drive there.
Now, the numbers in Nashville do seem a bit high. But the alternative to built-in parking spots in residential buildings is street parking, which costs just as much as built-in parking, but is entirely paid for by taxes instead. Street parking also takes up space that could be used for protected bike lanes.

I find it weird that it isn’t mentioned at all, nor the vaccination against it.

But P is only the projection of H onto the plane if PH is indeed parallel to n. Which is not necessary.
Imagine a nail patrols hammered into a piece of wood at an angle. The wood surface is the plane, the entry point is H and the head of the nail is P. A is anywhere on the line perpendicular to the nail on the board.
If you shine a light from above, you can see P’, the projection of P as the end of the shadow cast by thaw nail. Unless the nail is straight, P’ != H.

It’s like writing an article about Iowa and labeling it with Las Vegas (USA).
I continue to applaud the effort though, hopefully it all works out and the other states follow suit (using the same software bundles).
I mean, it’s kind of a major point of Elantris, albeit inverted: Nobody knows why magic stopped working because they don’t know why it worked in the first place.
