Soapbox started out as an alternative to Mastodon but has grown to encompass ActivityPub and nostr while being interoperable with both. In February 2023, the team launched the “Mostr” bridge, seamlessly connecting nostr to the ActivityPub Fediverse and enabling bidirectional communication between both protocols. This bridge exposes over 9.4M potential users in nostr’s target audience to nostr, many of whom have already left the Fediverse completely in favor of nostr.

I would very much like to move Exploding Heads to Nostr when it is feasible.

Our community members should not be subject to the whims of a benevolent dictator, even if that benevolent dictator is me.

I think in the futute, Nostr will be a viable solution to achieve this.

Less bots the better

You as an individual blocking their communities and users you do not wish to see is the best bet.

I want to avoid defederation where ever possible.

As a user, you can block either people or communities but not whole instances.

If you are an admin running an instance, you can do it through the admin settings.

I felt the same way at first, but then when I saw how they were censoring non-approved narratives and making it hard for people who may post non-approved narratives I realized we would not be really able to communicate with them anyway. It just seems like a one way street at the moment.

Plus you have the data/privacy concerns.

We have no power over other sites in respect of defederation or refederation. They will do what they do - it is up to us to be the best we can be regardless.

None of this is easy.

Nobody is going to make perfect decisions 100% of the time.

But @Wigglehard@exploding-heads.com is 100% heart and he is putting a lot of effort into making Exploding Heads successful.

We have steered a pretty consistent course for over a year now. We are just learning how to deal with bots and trolls taking away from others enjoyment of Exploding Heads.

We are not bending the knee.

If you are not a troll or a bot, you will notice little change from the way we have been running since inception. Must be over a year now.
