They desperately need an OLED defect mega thread with a Google doc/poll to try and keep it all contained. Plus it would be a much more useful resource for people looking for defects to check for themselves.
They also need an OLED unboxing mega thread. Not having those two things has turned the sun into almost entirely those two posts for the last week.
New world was both shader cache and game content almost every day. And the way they did game updates it was like 15gb + every other day worth of downloads, and nearly replaced the entire install when unpacked. I also had the game on my desktop and had to pause updates when not playing the game often because it would take up the CPU a ton when unpacking the massive updates in the middle of the day.
My inner demons trying to get me to RMA my dead pixel BOE deck while posts like this are making me think I should just get over it and replace the display later if it breaks or gets burn in down the line.
It really does look incredible, and I have gotten super picky about display uniformity since the plague of uneven LCD TVs have been killing my home movie enjoyment. Found that Samsung with their QLED line has the least grey uniformity issues on their TVs these days and if I ended up with a steam deck that had uneven brightness or colors that was unable to be RMA’d I’d be way more bothered than with a couple dead pixels. Though… That being a choice needing to be made is upsetting itself.

E: ignore me I’m just enjoying this deck too much and having paranoia about RMA luck.
