Turns out Valve did the obvious thing and gave LE SDs a really good screen. One can debate preferences and reliability may be slightly worse, but it’s objectively a very good screen with some advantages in its corner.

I’ve tried to sprinkle a few comments in saying the same. LE OLED, no issues. Negative experiences are far more likely to get posted than positive, so it’s good we balance things out a bit.
You can’t evaluate how this apparently bespoke panel will hold up over time. It just released.
Neither Samsung nor BOE are so consistent in their production that past performance of other products guarantees future results.
Same situation; LE, BOE panel, no apparent issues. It’s good to see how other people are doing, especially when negative experiences tend to bring far more people to a subreddit than positive oens.
It’s going to have outsized popularity with people who visit and comment in this sub, so hard to tell
Some other comments have pointed out that “only goes down to 45 FPS” isn’t quite right, but just to be clear for anyone reading there is a difference between the game refresh rate and the screen refresh rate.
The OLED Screen refresh rate only seems to go down to 45Hz, but that does not mean games are required to meet that minimum.
If, for example, a game is running at 30fps, the screen will refresh at 90Hz and simply show each frame from the game three times. This comes with benefits of decreased display latency but largely won’t be very noticeable to the user. If a game is running at 40fps, the screen will drop down to 80Hz. The math continues like that, so games are NOT required to run at 45fps to run on the OLED screen.
If you find this insufferable, I would kindly suggest you try to focus on the gaming posts in this sub. There are quite a few recommending games from the sale, games that look great on OLED, etc. some of us do also like to dive into the tech specs, but you don’t need to spend your time in threads that don’t bring you happiness.
