  • Can someone explain to me the obsession with Neto?

Not super familiar as a player, but would he really be better as a RW than Jesus? If not, then shouldn’t we be focusing on a striker for next summer?

If we are signing a player for Saka competition, their ceiling realistically has to be close to Saka to make worthwhile. Not sure that’s Neto.

If we are signing for rotation, would they be better rotation right now compared to Jesus? That’s also a high bar to clear

I think our ideal starting frontline in a year or two should be closer to :

    Martinelli-Ferguson or Oshimen-Saka//////// Trossard- Havertz/Jesus-Jesus

    Than:

    Martinelli-Jesus-Saka////////////// Trossard- Havertz/Toney-Neto

If we are targeting a winger, finding someone on the left or someone comfortable with playing both sides to replace Trossard may be more important

I get it if Neto is the Trossard replacement but that seems like it would be steep

  • Incorrect actually

Between Nketiah and Balogun, we are going to get between 60 and 70 mil £ for Hale End products

Neither are good enough for where we want to be in 2-3 years. You can say that we should’ve kept Balogun and sold Nketiah for this year, but Nketiah wouldn’t have gotten as much and Balogun would lose value as our backup instead of coming off a 20 npg season

That money will be crucial in going towards a striker that fits the mound what we need. Even if Balogun reaches those levels, we can get him at a 15% discount to market values due to our sell-on clause. More likely tho, that money helps offset the huge money needed for an Oshimen, Ferguson, etc
