I daily an F80 ZCP — so not the same as an F87 CS, but pretty similar — and have an E46 M3 track car. The S55 is a big step up from the N55, but it still doesn’t have nearly as much character as the S54.
However, I do think the F8x is a massive step up as a daily. The adaptive suspension (which did come on the M2 CS) is pretty darn good at giving the car a split personality, the traction control is way better, you have more accessible power, it’s arguably more reliable, and you don’t have to deal with all of the issues that come with driving a car that’s old enough to vote (like getting adequate insurance, ask me how I know).
