No John Stones, Kim or Gvardiol at all is pretty crazy. IMO Stones is the best ball playing CB in the world for a couple of seasons. He does often play a hybrid role but so do Akanji and all other city CBs except Dias.

You can definitely see a generation of younger players being bought into their system and gaining eligibility by the time they’ll host the WC.

Having said that, we expected Qatar to benefit similarly but they never really managed to produce players to that level.
