Siempre los dos, but for me, at least, the running helps more immediately and is more readily available. The therapy is a longer term fix.

What makes this slop, aside from the fact that whoever created it used AI? Or is that literally the only thing?

Easier to document the nexus, for sure
You laugh, but they absolutely could mandate viewing by members of the military. Even those who are on leave or have a valid excuse could be made to watch the recording later. I’ve seen dumber (maybe?) orders come down.

4·5 days agoAgreed. Knowing for sure that they carried out the physical act should be the bare minimum to even consider the death penalty (assuming we can’t just get rid of it).
Wow, that’s a lot of mileage for a marathon to me. Maybe not enough recovery? I’m used to a max of 80k a week for a 50k race
I’ve fallen into that trap. Maybe I’ll look into the time based approach
Sounds like a good place to be with a race in the distance before you hit a training block
The burnout at the end of a long training block is real. How are you feeling about 100 on that mileage? My longest has been 50 miles and did that on about 50 a week.
Recovery mode! You doing any strength training?
Sounds like the perfect setup. Kid drop-offs and pickups are what really make the logistics challenging for me. I’m glad you’re making it work!
Run commuting sounds like the dream. Do you have a shower at work or just stay as-is?

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do you still believe in having friends despite there being long, long gaps of time between the last time you communicated or hung out?
3·17 days agoHighly dependent on the people involved. My oldest friend I’ve known since high school. We’ll occasionally send a meme back and forth but he’d never even met my kids until they were in their teens. We live far apart. But when my dad passed and I needed his help with something, he dropped everything and drove 6 hours round trip to be there. I probably see him or have a substantive conversation with him once or twice a year.
I was a runner, got injured, gained about 30lbs, and started running again. A couple of thoughts:
- you’ll be slower, and that’s OK. My pace dropped by about 30 to 45 seconds per mile, but I realized I’d rather be running slowly than trying to push harder and re-injure myself
- injury is a real possibility. Carrying the extra weight was definitely noticeable in my joints and muscles, so I had to be mindful of increasing mileage slowly and being better about stretching post-run, taking rest days and doing strength training
- if you’re hoping to lose weight by running, be careful. I don’t know what your running goals are, but ramping up mileage and staying in a caloric deficit for extended periods aren’t compatible. Your muscles, tendons, everything, need nutrients to recover and get stronger. Watch your macros carefully and don’t starve yourself
Ultimately, I went on a GLP-1 for about 5 months while maintaining a pretty conservative (for me) weekly mileage and doing more weight training instead, watched my protein intake like a hawk, and that helped me drop the weight and begin increasing mileage. It was amazing how much my speed correlated to my weight and how much easier it is to run and be injury free now that I’ve dropped the pounds.

Running@lemmy.world•Copenhagen Half Marathon 2027 Entries Go To Ballot
1·30 days agoDid you read the article? It specifically says they will be ending that practice.
There will be no resale platform for CPH Half 2027. An entry belongs to the runner it is issued to and cannot be passed to anyone else

2·1 month agoTo me it seems that the only drawback is that they also did away with bib re-sale. There doesn’t seem to be any info on what happens to the slot if a runner commits, pays for the bib, and then DNS’s. Seems like a waste of a bib.

Running@lemmy.world•Chicago Marathon announces water refill stations: Will runners use them? - Canadian Running Magazine
1·1 month agoI understand that trail running “feels” different in terms of atmosphere and culture but I don’t think the things you list make a practical difference for the purposes of this comparison.
I’d also argue that the goals of the runners aren’t that different. There are two types of goals in both kinds of running: to finish and enjoy the journey, or to push yourself and see how hard you can do against an outside standard, whether that’s other competitors or the clock. Sure, the proportion of who is chasing which category of goal is different between trail and road running, but I don’t buy into the idea that the motivations in general are different.

I’m definitely always more on guard running in cities, and there’s always a little stress in the back of my mind having to pay more attention to what other pedestrians, cyclists and drivers are doing.
